Not A Texas Resident?

You could still qualify for resident tuition

If you qualify for at least $1,000 in Texas State competitive or merit (e.g., National and Assured) scholarships, you may receive a nonresident tuition competitive scholarship waiver (provided you are registered with, or exempt for, Selective Service and are lawfully present in the United States). View residency requirements for more details.

If qualified, the department that awarded you the scholarship will complete the appropriate nonresident tuition waiver university approved form.

Opportunities for International Students

Tuition Assistance for Mexican Students (TAMS)

The Tuition Assistance for Mexican Students (TAMS) application is available to F1 Visa students from Mexico. To determine financial need for TAMS, you must complete the International Student Financial Aid Application. Once we receive the completed application, we will be able to notify you about your eligibility for the tuition assistance program.

Please use the following applications based on the academic year you will be attending/applying for.

For Spring/Summer 2026: 2025-2026 International Student Financial Aid Application

For 2026-2027 academic year: 2026-2027 International Student Financial Aid Application

Please note: a new application must be turned in each academic year to receive this assistance and an activated NetID is required to access the online form. Once the completed application is received and reviewed, applicants will be notified of eligibility for waiver within two weeks.

The Good Neighbor Scholarship

These scholarships are awarded competitively and require the submission of a Texas State scholarship application via the Bobcat Online Scholarship System (BOSS) by March 1st for the following academic year. The Good Neighbor Program provides tuition assistance to students from nations of the Western (American) Hemisphere other than Cuba and the United States. Academically talented students from these countries are encouraged to pursue higher education in the state of Texas, thus establishing beneficial relationships between the state of Texas and the students’ home countries. Recipients of the Good Neighbor Scholarship receive a non-resident tuition adjustment equal to the difference in tuition between Texas residents and non-residents. A minimum number of enrolled hours is not required.
